Business 5 Spanish Companies Indicate Interest in Nigeria's Automotive Industry

A Spanish delegation from five automotive equipment and components manufacturing companies has indicated interest in the development of Nigeria’s automotive industry.

The Federal Government of Nigeria, had in October 2013, approved the Automotive Industry Development Plan to attract foreign and local investments to the sector.

Mr David Velasco, the Head of the delegation, told newsmen in Lagos on Sunday that the five companies were in Nigeria to supply auto equipment and accessories to the sector.

"We understand that there is a new legislation in Nigeria for the development of her automotive industry. This delegation of five Spanish auto equipment and accessories companies are, therefore, in Nigeria to do business with would be partners.

"The companies are seeking ways of supplying the Nigeria automotive industry good quality auto products and services. We are fully aware of the investment opportunities and dynamism that the Nigeria’s automotive industry holds,’’ he said.

Velasco said that the companies were in Nigeria to showcase their products including auto electrical components, brake system component and fans for vehicles.

The head of visiting team of Spanish auto experts also said that the companies were prepared to provide the sector higher quality products and services.

He said that more Spanish auto companies had also indicated interest to supply components and accessories to Nigeria’s automotive industry.

"More Spanish companies are more than willing to also come to Nigeria to provide auto products and services. This delegation will now go back to Spain and tell other auto companies that there are opportunities for them in Nigeria,’’ he said.
