The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has raised a committee to begin consultations and consideration for the establishment of state police.

The action is coming amidst calls for restructuring of the country.

Speaking to State House Correspondents at the end of their pre-meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) on Wednesday night, Chairman of the forum and Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari, said that the committee has representatives from the six geo-political zones of the country.

It is headed by the governor of Kwara, with governors of Imo, Delta, Ekiti, Bauchi and Sokoto as members to lead the committee so that they can be able to interface with the Committee of Police and take the matter before the Acting President for further action.
