Two years into the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, Nigerians have given the APC-led federal government knocks and kudos.

In the last two years, the Vice President, Prof. Oluyemi Osinbajo has acted in acting capacities for a number of times, most especially during the course of medical sojourn of President Muhammadu Buhari in the United Kingdom.

Nigerian Bulletin takes a look at the presidential moves of the vice President, Yemi Osinbajo in the last one year:

1. Biafra At 50 event

Acting President, Oluyemi Osinbajo on May 26, 2017 attended the Biafra at 50 event at the Musa Yar'Adua Centre Abuja. The event was tagged: ''Memory and National Building - Biafra: 50 Years After ''. At the event, Mr. Osinbajo

In his keynote address, “Greater Together than Apart” asked Nigerians to learn from the history of Nigeria’s civil war rather than beating the drums of a second civil war, saying while the wise learn from history, experience remains the best teacher for a fool.

2. Revisiting of FEC Meeting time

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday MAY 10, 2017 reverted the time for the weeky Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting to 10am from 11am.

The usual time was 10am but was changed to 11 am by President Muhammadu Buhari after his return from London on medical vacation since March 10, 2017.

But having gone back to London for a medical follow-up, the Vice who is currently operating on an acting capacity reverted to 10am.

3. Niger Delta dialogue meetings


Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo led Federal Government talks with Niger Delta stakeholders, including militants, who were responsible for bombing oil assets to draw attention to challenges in the oil region.

Osinbajo, both in Vice President and Acting President capacity led a high powered delegation of the Federal Government to some states in the Niger Delta.

4. Economic Plans

Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo in February 2017 launched the economic recovery growth plan; an initiative expected to lead to the growth of the nation’s economy by seven per cent between 2017 and 2020.

Professor Osinbajo had said that the all-inclusive economic policy document will help put the economy back on track, following the effects of the recession.

According to him, the focus will be on five broad areas namely: macroeconomic policy, economic diversification and growth drivers, competitiveness, social inclusion, employment and governance.

5. Surprise Visit To A Local Market

Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo on May 26th, 2017 paid a surprised visit to the Garki market Abuja where he interacted with market women and others.

The Acting President discussed some of the issues those selling fish at the local markets faced towards the two years annual celebration of President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government.



6. Hosting of School Children At Aso Rock Villa

In the spirit of the Children’s day celebration, acting President Yemi Osinbajo hosted students from public schools in the Federal Capital Territory in his office at the Villa.

The visit was an interactive session between the acting President and the students.

The students asked questions on issues bordering on electricity, education, the future, economy, corruption among others.

The Acting President also took time to explain to them how the presidency works.

7. Issuance Of Executive Orders

Recently, Nigeria's Acting President Yemi Osinbajo signed executive orders which are expected to change the ways government business and operations are conducted in a significant manner.
