Alhaji Ganiyu Kolawole, a 71-year-old man, was arrested by the Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for the alleged rape of a seven-year-old girl in primary one in Akure on Tuesday when the girl was returning from school.

The St. Paul Annex Primary School pupil had been on her way from school to her home when she got thirsty and wanted a drink from a nearby well. According to the assaulted, she said that the Kolawole carried her into his room, covered her mouth and pushed her on the bed and committed the villainous act against her.
He then cleaned her up with a cloth after he was finished because she had been bleeding profusely after he had finished.

The suspect has denied charges of rape and insisted that he only gave the girl biscuits. But further tests conducted at the general hospital revealed that the seven year-old had indeed been assaulted recently.
Public Relations Officer of the corps, Kayode Balogun was quoted to have said, “Officers of the corps went to the house of the suspect for investigation and the inhabitants of the area said the suspect had been jailed before for raping another girl in that area,” Balogun said.
