A nine month old baby was killed in a fire in Sapele around 7pm on Wednesday.
The baby's parents locked her in the house and went to work; the mother works as an hairdresser at Sapele Yam garage.
The neighbours were unable to put out the fire and the fire fighting service arrived late. The whole building was in ruins and household items littered the scene.
An anonymous source at the fire fighting service confirmed that the fire was caused by an electrical spark due to power fluctuations.
