Politics Adamawa Govt Trains 15,000 youths

No fewer than 15,000 youths have been empowered under the Adamawa state Government Local Apprenticeship Scheme (LAS), the Project Manager, Alhaji Sani Jada has said.

He said that the youths were being trained in various skills under master trainers, and that they were selected from the 21 local government areas of the state.

He said that the trainees were given tools to set up their own businesses.

Jada said that beneficiaries of the programme, which started in 2011, included vulnerable groups such as physically challenged, widows, people living with HIV/AIDS and also inmates from Yola and Jimeta Prisons.

He also mentioned that the scheme was in partnership with some tertiary institutions.

He commended the beneficiaries, stressing that the scheme was committed to its objective of providing 40,000 unemployed youths with vocational, business and managerial skills by 2015.
