The Nigerian senate has restricted several TV stations from covering its proceedings less than 24 hours after World's Press Freedom Day.

Thirteen television stations had been accredited to cover plenaries, but the coverage has now been restricted to six TV stations - the Africa Independent Television, Nigerian Television Authority, Channels Television, Silverbird Television, Television Continental and the in-house New Age.

Reacting all the cameramen boycotted coverage of the plenary altogether.

A day ago Senate President Bukola Saraki assured the press of the freedom to carry out their responsibilities.
