Skipper of the homebased Super Eagles Chigozie Agbim has expressed his appreciation to the National Team coach, Stephen Keshi and likewise Nigerian supporters for backing him during the early group matches blunders at the on-going African Nations Championship(CHAN) in South Africa.

Agbim was hung out to dry for the blunders against Mali and Mozambique and there was clamour for his replacement with Under-17 World Cup winning goalkeeper, Sunday Alampasu widely advocated.

Stephen Keshi stuck with his captain which prompted fine saves from Agbim during the match against the host, South Africa and eliminating them from the tournament.

"I must thank God and my family for their support and the fans too.

"I must also thank those who stood by me. It wasn't easy going through such a period but I am happy that I did well against South Africa," Agbim said.

"And I want to thank coach Keshi especially because his confidence in me helped me to improve my performance in order not to disappoint him."
