One of America’s most tragic kidnapping cases just got a lot weirder as investigation suggests that the kidnapper could be the victim’s father.

James Lee DiMaggio earlier this month allegedly abducted 16-year-old Hannah Anderson, after killing her mother and younger brother in their home in California.

After a massive manhunt, DiMaggio was found a week later more than 1000km away in Idaho State. He engaged the FBI in a shootout and was killed in the process. His abductee, Anderson was found and unhurt.

That was thought to be the end of the saga with the police set to unravel the motive behind the crime.

It was soon discovered that DiMaggio and Anderson exchanged a lot of texts and phone calls before DiMggio picked her from cheerleading practice on the day of the murder and kidnapping.

Authorities dismissed any relationship between the two despite this revelation.

Then, two days ago,it emerged that DiMaggio listed the grandmother and mother-in-law of his victims as beneficiary to his life insurance. It is believed that he intended the $112,000 to go to the Anderson children, but didn't trust their parents to handle it.

It was reported that DiMaggio was very close to the Andersons that for years Hannah and Ethan grew up calling him "Uncle Jim". Hannah even described him as her father's best friend on a series of social media posts.

If relatives get their way, DNA tests will reveal that DiMaggio kidnapped and had sexual infatuation with his own daughter.
