The Abuja Division of the Federal High Court, Friday, nullified the suspension of Senator Andy Uba, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Independent National Electoral Commission from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
Others whose suspension was lifted by the court yesterday were the factional Chairman of the party in Anambra state, Chief Ejike Oguebego, Benjamin Udeozor, Chris Uba and Mrs Anthonia Nwankwu.
They had been suspended by the National Working Committee of the PDP for allegedly conducting a parallel state congress last Saturday where Andy Uba was nominated as the PDP’s candidate for the upcoming gubernatorial election in Anambra State.
Presiding Justice Ahmed R. Mohammed said that the NWC, of the PDP, attempted to overreach the powers of the court when it wielded the big stick against Andy and others, despite being aware of the pendency of a suit that was entered against the party by the plaintiffs, for which the party failed to show up for in court on Thursday.
“I further order that the motion ex-parte be served on the 1st defendant. This case is hereby adjourned till September 5 for the 1st defendant to appear before this court to show cause and for hearing of the plaintiffs’ motion ex-parte,” the court ruled
