Prince Leonard Uchendu has been by the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) as its candidate for the November 16 governorship election in Anambra State.

According to THIS DAY LIVE, Uchendu asked INEC to be prepared to wield the big stick and sanction any erring politician during the election in Anambra State.

Major Gilbert Agbo, National Secretary of NNPP speaking while presenting the party’s certificate of return to the governorship candidate yesterday in Abuja described Uchendu as an astute politician and man of the people, having served as the president- general of his town in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

“NNPP commends INEC for liberalising the political space by registering new political parties. We urge politicians to imbibe issue-based politics and eschew do-or-die politics that has impeded our democratic process,” he further said.

“We enjoin INEC to provide a level playing field for all political parties and sanction any political party or politician that violates the law to serve as a deterrent to others”.

“We urge Anambrarians to be vigilant and resist rigging in all its ramifications. Every vote must count and be counted in the forthcoming governorship election.

The people’s choice must be respected. This is the essence of democracy, “ he added.
