Today, elections for chairmanship and councillorship positions will hold in all 21 local governments and 326 wards of Anambra state. This is the first time local government elections will be conducted in the state by a civilian government.

The last LG poll in Anambra was held in December 1998 under the last military government. The elections had been due since March 2002, when the tenure of the last local governments expired.

Today's election in Anambra is expected to be epic even as political parties under the umbrella of Inter-Party Committee have pulled out of the elections due to the failure of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission to publish the lists of the candidates of the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.

Nigerian Bulletin will bring you details of the elections later.
