The Deputy National Treasurer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Usman Danmadamin-Isa, speaking in Sokoto on Thursday has cautioned politicians against acts capable of jeopardising Nigeria's corporate existence.

He said politicians must stop toying with the unity and peace of the nation citing peace and unity as “the most veritable tools for national development, and Nigerians must cherish the corporate existence of the nation.”

“Politicians should engage in the politics of issues, integrity and patriotism, rather than pursuing selfish interests.

“We should all put Nigeria first in our minds and not our personal gains. We should always ponder on the long range impact of all our actions on the country," he said.

Also in a separate interview, Alhaji Nasiru Italy, a former youths leader of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) in the state, who defected to APC, urged youths to shun all forms of violence so as to take control of their future.

According to him, Nigeria can only develop in an atmosphere of peace, with the youths serving as vanguards.
