Currently, the world is awaiting the launch of the “Apple watch” and most customers expected that Apple would unveiled its smartwatch at the “Spring forward” event which took place on the 9th of March, 2015, but they might have to wait much longer. Instead, Apple took out time to unveil its latest Macbook PC, the Macbook Air. One thing you should know about the latest Macbook air is that it’s an absolute masterpiece. There were a lot of renderings, artist interpretations of its looks and rumours about its design, but we never had a clue that its final launch would look this good.

Having a screen of 12-inches and weighing just 2.0 pounds, the latest Macbook air is one of the thinnest and lightest laptops in the market at the moment. The new Macbook laptop comes with a technology that helps it maximise battery life, and it doesn’t come with fan because its new technology allows it to process data easily without the need for a cooling fan, and this helps it to conserve battery power significantly. Apart from its design, the Macbook air is changing the way we use our cables, keyboard, trackpad and ports.

The port technology built in to this nimble laptop allows you to use one Universal USB port for all your needs. Its USB-Type C technology is reversible which allows you to insert your USB into your Macbook without having to memorise the side you have to insert it. All you need to do in other to utilize your USB is to plug it in, and you are good to go. While this new USB technology is amazing, Apple had to jettison some important features such as additional port, SD card slots and the MagSafe connection. Another reason why some amazing features were jettisoned from the latest Macbook is its ultra slim design. There isn’t much space, so some amazing features had to be jettisoned for new ones.

Apple introduced some new innovations in track-pad and keyboard technology. As we all know, the Macbook air is ultra slim and there isn’t room for bulky features. The old keyboard had a scissors keyboard mechanism that sat just below the keyboard and this gave the keyboard a more pronounced feeling. However, this scissors keyboard mechanism was replaced by what Apple called a "butterfly mechanism." This butterfly mechanism is less pronounced and it cuts-down keyboard travel time significantly, however, the keyboard is ultra sensitive to touch as you type.

The technology behind the new Track-pad is highly sophisticated but it isn’t difficult to use and it functions based on pressure sensitivity. The amount of pressure applied on the trackpad has diverse uses depending on the type of program you’re running or how you setup the system’s preferences. Apple referred to this functionality as “Force Push,” which handles functionality like rewind, fast forward, right clicks and other controls that manipulates the speed of the fast forward and rewind functionality. The force push functionality isn’t restricted to the aforementioned functions, but it can also be utilized for other functions. The aforementioned functions are the most common functions in which the Force Push technology is applied.

The Verdict

The latest Macbook air from the stables of Apple is quite impressive in its design and capabilities. No doubt, Apple took out time and effort to improve on its brand of laptops, and the capability of the Macbook Air testifies so much to that effort. The lack of ports is a major drawback but you could always get an adaptor to remedy the situation. The Macbook Air is an amazing product but the truth is that it isn’t meant for everyone.

The major issue is its size. It's too slim to include all the features. It doesn't even have a fan to cool its processor and it's all done to make it compact and save battery life....

Lol so basically Apple just said 'screw this, our tech guys are slow in coming with the tech for the ultimate laptop so let's skimp on the essentials.' I bet this laptop, as with most things Apple, appeal to a select group of people.

You are right Vunderkind, It isn't meant for everyone. There is this aristocratic click that Apple's Macbook users have formed. They usaully don't mix with the Microsoft OS users...
