Current governor of Osun state, Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s performance was faulted by four governor aspirants from the Osun State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party at a joint news conference held at the party’s secretariat in Osogbo. The conference was aimed to present the aspirants to the media.

The aspirants, who addressed the press conference, were a former Chairman, Senate Appropriation Committee, Chief Iyiola Omisore; a former Minister of Youth Development, Chief Olasunkanmi Akinlabi; a former Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Defence, Chief Oluwole Oke; and a former Secretary to Osun State Government, Alhaji Akinade Akinbade.

The four aspirants separately condemned the Aregbesola’s beautification project saying it was wrong to demolish people’s kiosks “in order to plant flowers.”

Oke found fault in Aregbesola’s economic policies, saying “infrastructural development without socio-economic empowerment of the masses is wrong.”

Omisore said the Osun state government should construct state roads instead of federal roads, whose costs would be refunded by the Federal Government.

Akinbade and Akinlabi dared Aregbesola to state the debt profile of Osun State, asking his government to devise creative means of generating funds than resulting to borrowing for all projects.
