Bishop Sunny Jero, the founder the New Salvation Church of Christ in Igbodi area of Warri, has been cleared of sponsoring the Niger Delta Avengers by the police.
Bishop Jero had previously been arrested after two men alleged that he was sponsoring the militants.
The police, after obtaining a search warrant, combed his church and private residence in Warri alongside the suspects where no incriminating substance was found against him.
The suspects were then rearrested and arraigned for false accusation. They have been remanded at the Okere Prison, Warri pending a legal advice from the Department of Public Prosecutions on the case.
