The PDP Senate caucus has alleged that a cabal in the presidency is out to silence them, ex PDP governors and any dissenting voice against the current administration in the APC.
Spokesman of the caucus Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe in a news conference on Wednesday said credible intelligence at their disposal revealed that the cabal has plans to humiliate dissenting voices in the country.
He was flanked by Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu and the Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio.
The cabal is planning to use security agencies to harass and intimidate Ekweremadu in order to put him in detention, he said.
“It is not limited to the Deputy Senate President alone, but all former governors in PDP, including dissenting voices in APC.
“We think this is a plan that all voices that condemn what is going on in the country are silenced.
“There is an assault on human rights and freedom of speech.
“This is a worrying trend in the country.
“Some people are using security agencies to harass the opposition.”
