Sports Athletics Federation selects 46 athletes to represent Nigeria at the Commonwealth Games

Twenty two athletes have been selected by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria(AFN) to represent the country at the 2014 Commonwealth Games taking place next month in Glasgow,Scotland.

The athletes were selected following their performances during last week's All Nigerian Athletics Championship held at the UJ Esuene stadium in Calabar.

Top among the athletes shortlisted is Nigeria's current queen of track,Blessing Okagbare who will be leading the country's charge at the competition.

The A-list athlete only last week broke the long standing women's record in the 100m event,winning in a time of 11.06seconds,the fastest ever at the Nigerian trials.

Some of the other athletes listed by the AFN for the Commonwealth Games include: Gloria Asumnu, Dominique Duncan, Mark Jelks,Ogho-Oghene Egwero and Obinna Metu and others.

Triple Jumper Tosin Oke was equally selected and he will be hoping to successfully defend his gold medal which he won four years ago in New Delhi.
