A former Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, on Tuesday advised youths against being used to disrupt the peace in the state.

"You should never allow yourselves to be used to destroy lives and property of the people; you should not be used to satisfy the selfish interests of some Nigerians,'' Bafarawa told youths in Sokoto.

Bafarawa, represented by his younger brother, Alhaji Nasiru Bafarawa, made the call at the inauguration of the executives of Garkuwa Youth Progressive Association, a pro-PDP group.

The former governor described the youth as "fragile vanguards'' of positive development, who should always work for the progress of the nation.

According to him, youths should be given guidance and care to become good leaders of tomorrow.

Bafarawa commended the PDP youths for coming together with positive ideas to mobilize their colleagues through enlightenment on the party’s programmes.

He donated N1 million to the group to support their activities.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Association, Malam Shehu Abubakar, said the group would sensitize youths in the state against violence and thuggery during elections.
