Bamanga Tukur, erstwhile National Chairman of the Peoples' Democratic Party, PDP is been tipped as the next Minister of Defence.
Security sources are claiming that contrary to the belief that Tukur was asked to resign as PDP chairman because he ended up causing disaffection within the party, President Goodluck Jonathan only told the former chairman to step aside to enable a wholesome resolution of perceived grievances of various camps who cited Tukur as the problem.
The sources are also claiming that President Jonathan intends to compensate Tukur by making him minister of Defence. If Tukur gets appointed as Defence Minister, it is also expected that President Jonathan will get more support from the region.
