As the January 9, Governorship Rerun Polls in Southern Ijaw, Bayelsa State draws near, the conclusion of the Yenagoa seat will be determined by the Ijaw people.

Here are 7 reasons why APC's Candidate Timipre Silva might take the lead and become the next Governor of Bayelsa State

- Historically, Bayelsa state does not play opposition politics and since APC is at the centre, it should be expected that Chief Timipre Sylva would have a clean sweep

- The use of federal might has been employed by previous governments to influence elections. With Bayelsa being an oil rich state, it is expected that the APC would not want to let go, hence, would use all possible measures to secure the state. [APC's candidate, Timipre Silva can take the day if Federal might is used for the conclusion of the Southern Ijaw poll over Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State.]

- The strength that lies in the total number of Registered voters in Southern Ijaw can overturn other LGAs in Bayelsa State.

- Southern Ijaw, which has over 127,000 registered voters, and believes to be the stronghold of Silva, APC Candidate which would put him ahead of Dickson.

- From the last election results as announced by INEC collation officer, PDP has 94,980 (59%) votes and APC's got 65620 votes (41%). PDP leads with 29,360 Votes which means Southern Ijaw can still perform the miracle for Silva, the APC candidate

- Bayelsa state and the Southern Ijaw people may not afford to remain in the PDP which is now in the opposition. They may want to fill the benefit and claims of the national cake from the seat of power in Aso rock.

- In line with constitutional provisions Section 179, aside having the highest number of votes, the winner must also secure at least one quarter of votes cast in two-thirds of the eight local government areas in the state namely Yenagoa, Southern Ijaw, Ekeremor, Sagbama, Nembe, Brass, Ogbia and Kolokuma/ Opokuma, I also think both candidates have enjoined these benefits at other local government polls, so there is big hope for Timipre Silva in Bayelsa.

Although, nobody can determine who becomes the next governor of Bayelsa, not even the commission, 'Abuja' or the Militants but only the PEOPLE of Southern Ijaw in the Bayelsa Gubernatorial election rerun on Saturday, tomorrow.

By Saturday night or Sunday, when results from far flung Southern Ijaw wards would have been collated, an inkling of the side the pendulum would swing to would be on hand . For now, it is all about conjectures and predictions.
