Business Better Service? - MTN Builds 100 GB/s Fibre Optic Network in Nigeria

Mobile Telephone Network (MTN) Nigeria is building of one of latest telecoms infrastructure in African region- a 100 gigabit-per-second fibre optic network which industry expert says will give the operator edge over its competitors in terms of speed and reliability, National Mirror reports.

The infrastructure is intended to quench the taste of Nigerian consumers for unmatched telecoms service as experienced most of the developed economies of the world.

A statement from the company, quoting the Chief Technical Officer of MTN Nigeria, Mrs. Lynda Saint-Nwafor revealed that connectivity company Alcatel-Lucent is building the 100G DWDM/ OTN network for MTN Nigeria by using its 1830 Photonic Service Switch (PSS) system.

The unique gains of this latest development, the statement noted is that MTN plans on using the extra capacity to offer wholesale services to other providers in the region.
