THE Esogban of Benin Kingdom, Chief
David Edebiri decried the likely extinction of the Bini language and asked that steps should be taken to ensure that this does not happen.

The Chief who is referred to as the 'Oracle' of the Bini Kingdom also said that the Benin Forum will hold a summit next month in order to address the problem.

This was during the presentation of his book, 'A Compendium of some memo-rable statements', scheduled for November 30 in Benin, he explained that the book will give historical background about the true story of Benin histories.

Arrgh. Nooooo!!! Nooo!! There is something I noticed about Bini people though, while in Benin - they HARDLY like conversing in their language. A bini man would discuss in Bini in another state, say Lagos, when he finds another "brother" in the state, but he is more likely to speak pidgin in Benin.

I'm not sure I'm right in this analysis though, but I wouldn't have expected that the language would be on the brink of extinction.

@phealip, how far?
