Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assebly, Adeyemi Ikuforiji has been discharged and acquitted by Justice Ibrahim Buba of the Federal High Court.
He was acquitted of money laundering.
The EFCC had earlier accused him and Oyebode Atoyebin (his aide) of laundering about N600m.
The judge described the trial as 'anachronistic" and said it should not have been allowed to continue.
“This proceeding should have been treated as an aborted trial and the charges should have been withdrawn,” Justice Buba said.
This verdict was greeted by cheers and shouts from Mr. Ikuforiji's supporters in the courtroom.
