Metro Cattle Rustlers,Vigilante Group Clash in Katsina

A dispute between suspected cattle rustlers and a vigilante group in Danmusa Local Government Area of Kastina state has left five persons dead and seven others injured.

According to NAN,DSP Aminu Abubakar, Kastina State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) confirmed the clash saying the incident occurred on Sept. 17 in Danmusa when a vigilance group engaged some suspected rustlers in the area.

The injured persons were receiving medical attention while police investigation was ongoing.

He also said that the command had recovered 120 cows and 70 sheep stolen by suspected rustlers in Tsaru village of Faskari Local Government Area. He said one suspected rustler was arrested in Jibia Local Government Area with seven cows recovered from him.

The police spokesman said other exhibits recovered, apart from cows and sheep, were four locally made pistols, 16 rounds of live ammunition, one motorcycle, a cell phone, N61,100, a necklace and a ring.

The Police PRO further appealed to the public to come forward with any information that could aid the investigation.
