Sports CHAN 2014: NFF delighted with the perfomance of Eagles- Green

Chairman, technical Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) Chris Green, has said that the football body is satisfied with the performance of the Eagles in the ongoing Africa Nations Championship (CHAN).

Green said that in spite of losing some players at the very close to the commencement of the tournament in South Africa, the team has proved their worth in all the matches played so far.

“The home-based players, the most experienced players that we actually started our campaign with a year ago, are the kind of players we still have right now," he told the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN)

“Because most them have done very well and have sought greener pastures elsewhere.

“And, these players we are using now are players that we just got, put them together. So, we must also give kudos to the coach for what he has done.

“So, what we have done exactly now is, to expose them , let them have that exposure of playing big time football , football at this level and we take it from now.

“But again, like I keep saying, even when something starts and has a target, before even it gets to the target, we have already reached the target.

“But, these boys have done brilliantly well. They‘ve just crossed to the next level of the competition, that’s the quarter finals. So, it’s a good thing and thanks to them’’.

Green thanked Nigerians for their patience and support but urged that they should be sparing in their criticism of the team.

Green said the NFF is optimistic of a good outing in the CHAN tournament and that same determination would be taken to the World cup in Brazil.
