Sports CHAN 2014: Sports ministry offering Eagles $100,000 to beat Morocco

In order to motivate the homebased Eagles at the ongoing African Nations Championship(CHAN) the National Sports Commission(NSC) have promised the team $100,000 to share if they defeat Morocco.

Nigeria will on Saturday face Morocco in the quarter-finals looking to advance to the next round of the competition.

Speaking through his special adviser on media,Nigeria's sports minister Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi said they want to use the money “to motivate the Nigerian team to give their very best and to triumph over the Moroccans,” he said.

It is understood that the money is quite different from the bonuses the team is entitled to,as this is a special fund to motivate the players.

“This is a special fund meant to encourage the players to give their all. It is besides their normal allowance and bonus. I am very impressed with their performance so far. As we all can see, the team has been improving with each match, and it is our desire that they continue to do very well and reach the final.

“This incentive will hopefully further boost the morale of both the players and coaches and help the team to triumph over Morocco.”
