Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi has stated that inexperience cost his side in their 2-1 defeat by Mali at the ongoing African Nations Championship(CHAN) adding that his players were under pressure to deliver.

The homebased Eagles lost their first game of the competition and will now need to win their next two games against Mozambique and South Africa to stand a chance of progressing to the next round.

Defending his team who were outplayed for the greater part of the game by Mali,Keshi said: “The pressure was massive and I expected this type of thing happening but I am certain that they now know that they have to satisfy themselves and have confidence in themselves, because we have lost the opening game and we have to forget that and fight for qualification from the remaining two games.”

Keshi said that most of the players were getting their first exposure on an international stage, but assured that they will get better in the next game.

“The team will definitely get better,” Keshi added.
