Sports Chelsea: Jose Mourinho unhappy with his players

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has lashed out at some of his fringe players following their abysmal showing in their Capital One Cup game on Tuesday.

The Blues survived a scare in their 2-1 victory over League two side, Shrewsbury, with some of the players failing to impress Mourinho on their ability to compete in the first team.

"I expect people that have not been playing a lot to raise their level and create problems," said Mourinho.

"I love problems of choice, but it's easy to choose my team for Saturday."

The Portuguese did praise some players like Didier Drogba,Nigerian international John Obi Mikel for putting up a good show despite having just two days rest after the game against Manchester United on Sunday.

"I also had people like [goalkeeper] Petr Cech and [midfielder Jon Obi] Mikel, people with lots of years at the club, who would prefer to start at Old Trafford.

"They didn't and they came here today and gave a fantastic example. After that there are the young boys and they have to follow the spirit and the professionalism of the others."
