Politics Chris Ngige to Labour Unions: Strikes and Protests Won't Help You

Nigeria's Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige has urged labour unions to engage in dialogue with the government whenever they need something from the federal government.

According to him, the frequent mobilisation of union members for protests and strikes had become antiquated; a weapon of trade unionism he described as inimical to the growth of the economy.

He, therefore, charged the members to always use social dialogue in pressing home their demands, instead of being confrontational.

He spoke at a conference organized by the Agriculture and Allied Employees’ Union of Nigeria (AAEUN).
