The Kogi government on Monday advised Nigerians, especially Christians to see Christmas celebration as a period of sober reflection.

The Special Adviser on Inter Governmental Affairs, Mr Austine Medaiyedu said that Christmas was a period to give thanks to God for all He had done all through the year, irrespective of the challenges.

He urged Nigerians to pray for the country, especially on the security and other challenges during the yuletide season.

``I want to implore Nigerians, be you from any religious sector, this is our country and let us come together to protect and guide it as a family.

``I urged everyone to use this season of Christmas to pray for the development and peace of the nation,” he said.

He commended Gov. Idris Wada for the peaceful and purposeful administration in the state saying the governor had been able to balance the different religious groups in the state, noting that all groups were very happy with one another.

He added that the new year would be a successful one for the nation and urged Nigerians to remain steadfast and prayerful for the nation toward achieving a greater height in the coming year.
