A group, "Coalition for True Democrats,’’ has described the call by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to its lawmakers to stall the passage of the 2014 budget as ``selfish an unpatriotic’’.

The group’s Spokesman, Mr Dachung Bagos, made the statement at a peaceful protest, staged by the group at the National Assembly in Abuja on Tuesday to protest the directive, advising the party to rescind its decision.

The group said they were not in support of APC’s decision and would do everything possible to ensure that the unity of the country was not compromised.

“Nigerians voted them into power not APC, so we expect members of the National Assembly to be united for Nigeria and Nigerians.”

“Our advice to APC's leadership is to think Nigeria. Nigeria is about Nigerians and not about political party and they should be reasonable and not selfish.

“We don’t want Nigeria to go into crisis, the unity of this country is what should be paramount in our hearts, it is important and we must be united.

He vowed that the group would not stop its fight to ensure that Nigerians enjoyed the full dividends of democracy.
