The Congress for Progressive Change in Ogun State has disowned its governorship candidate in the 2011 gubernatorial election, Wale Okunniyi, for the recent emergence of campaign posters in parts of the state, proclaiming him to be the party’s flagbearer in the 2015 poll.
The CPC which recently merged with the Action Congress of Nigeria and the All Nigeria Peoples Party to form the APC however assured incumbent governor, Ibikunle Amosun, of it's support and loyalty. The party also urged the ACN, the ANPP and the public to be wary of the antics of Okunniyi and his supporters.
Okunniyi on the other hand reacted by saying he should not be misunderstood as having endorsed Governor Ibikunle Amosun as the APC gubernatorial candidate for the 2015 poll. He stressed that the CPC bloc within the APC would in Ogun produce the next governor of the state.
