Sports David De Gea's saves help Man Utd beat Everton 2-1

Manchester United persevered for yet another game to secure all three points in their 2-1 victory over Everton.

The win has now put Manchester United in the top four of the English Premier League for the first time this season.

It was a game both sides keenly contested but Louis Van Gaal's team emerged victorious.

Manchester United will have David De Gea to thank for his heroics in the tie, with the Spaniard making spectacular saves that singlehandedly won the fixture for his team.

Angel Di Maria justified his hefty pricetag putting United ahead with a beautiful finish in the first half.

The Argentine came very close to adding to the tally when Tim Howard did well to keep his freekick that looked goal-bound out.

But the defining moment in the first half came when De Gea went down nicely to keep out a Leighton Baines' penalty kick.

It was the first time that the Everton left-back will be missing from the spot in 15 attempts.

However Baines made amends in the second half making a pinpoint cross to Steven Naismith who headed in beyond De Gea to level scores at 1-1.

It was almost dejavu for United however they found their way back in front,no better time to score for Radamel Falcao than when he poached in Di Maria's low cross for the second goal.

Trademark United this season, they have hung in on games and they also replicated the same scenario like last weekend's game against West Ham.

But the accolades duly is reserved for De Gea who made saves that won the match for United.

First was on Leon Osman and then on Bryan Oviedo, shots that on another day would have ended at the back of the net.

With the win United climbed into the top four and if they keep up this momentum, might be on track to make the Champions League next season.
