President Goodluck Jonathan has appointed Dr. (Mrs.) Christiana Atako, as its acting Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer. Her appointment follows the expiration of the tenure of Dr. Christian Oboh.
Prior to her appointment, Dr. Atako was Director of Education, Health, and Social Services of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). Dr. Atako pioneer staff of the NDDC, was an Assistant Director and acting Head of Community and Rural Development Directorate at the inception of the Commission. She has also served as Assistant Director and Head of Public Affairs Department of the defunct Oil Mineral Producing Areas Development Commission (OMPADEC) from 1995 to 2001.
In a letter to the chairman of NDDC Governing Board, Dr. Tarilah Tebepah, and signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim directed Oboh, to hand over all the Commission’s property in his possession to Atako, whose appointment took effect from Tuesday.
