Liberia has announced gaining tremendous ground in the fight against Ebla as Africa has pinned its hopes on a 'miracle drug' which it will test on patients in Guinea. As such, the country has lifted its state of emergency.

“I have informed the leadership of the national legislature that I will not seek an extension of the state of emergency,” said the Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf on the state's ELBC radio network.

On August 6, Sirleaf declared a state of emergency, calling the Ebola virus a 'clear and present danger' which, at that time, had claimed about 1,000 lives in West Africa.

She mentioned, however, that the relaxation wasn't "because the fight against Ebola is over", but because their recent efforts against the epidemic had proved fruitful.
