The Nigerian Medical Association has challenged the Federal Government to “establish at least one isolation centre in each (of the 109) senatorial district or state of the country” to sustain the fight against Ebola Virus Disease, the Punch reports.
Speaking at a press briefing on Saturday in Abuja, President of the association, Dr. Kayode Obembe, also called government to establish what it described “Community Ebola Surveillance Units” saying the determination to wipe out Ebola is a battle of no retreat, no surrender.
He urged communities to provide cremation sites while the state provides resources and instruction for safe disposal of bodies and other bio-hazardous material.
According to him this is not time to relapse in the fight because EVD remains a global disease.
He also used the occasion to commend the Federal Government in its efforts towards containing EVD
