A faction of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State has suspended Sen. Julius Ucha, a former gubernatorial aspirant and 10 others from the party for alleged anti party activities.

The faction, headed by Mr Sam Igwe, also suspended Mr Peter Ede, member representing Ezza North /Ishielu Federal constituency at the House of Representatives and Chief Ben Nwobashi, the newly elected State Chairman of the party.

Secretary of the faction, Mr Ben Ebele announced this on Friday in Abakaliki while briefing newsmen.

Ebele said the suspended members were jeopardising chances of the party in next year’s general elections.

“Any individual dealing with the suspended members does that at his own risk as the party will not be held liable for any consequence of such dealing,” he said.

In his remarks, the factional chairman, Mr Igwe, said his faction was the only recognised state executive in the state as it conducted its elections peacefully and in accordance to guidelines stipulated by the national leadership.

In a related development, another faction led by Chief Innocent Ugo-Chima, former federal lawmaker from the state called for the outright cancellation of the congresses held by the Ndu-led committee.

Ugo-Chima said the committee played the script of the national leadership of the party, as the election did not follow party guidelines.

According to him, the congresses were characterised by non presentation of lists of elected delegates for members’ scrutiny.

Reacting to the suspension, Mr Chijioke Enyi, who is among those who were suspended, described the action as ''laughable''.

Enyi, who is the minority leader of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, told NAN that he would not ``waste'' his time joining issues with the group.
