The Ebonyi State House of Assembly on Tuesday suspended its Deputy Speaker, Chief Blaise Orji and two other members, for alleged unethical practices.

Other suspended members were Chief Eni Uduma (PDP-Afikpo South-West) and Mr Frank Ogbu (PDP-Ohaukwu North).

They were reportedly suspended during an emergency plenary session attended by 19 of the 24 members of the assembly.

The Deputy Chief Whip, Mr Francis Nwifuru (PDP Izzi West), in his motion, said the lawmakers engaged in acts capable of causing disaffection between the legislature and the executive.

``The trio should be suspended by the house for causing crisis between the executive and legislative arms of government which is detrimental to the developmental drive of the government,” he said.

The motion was seconded by Mr Chike Ogiji, (PDP-Ikwo South), who condemned the actions, and added that any member found fuelling crisis in the state should be disciplined.

Members took turns in condemning their actions after which the Speaker, Chief Chukwuma Nwazunku, put the motion into vote which was unanimously adopted by the members.

The mace was immediately lowered as the suspended members were marched out of the chamber.

One of the suspended members, Ogbu said the house was one family and hoped that it would amicably resolve the contending issues.
