Business Ecobank Manager Jailed for Allegedly Stealing N14m From Customers' Accounts

Mr. Akhanenu Ikechukwu, the operational manager of Ecobank of Nigeria, Ejigbo branch, has been jailed for allegedly withdrawing N14,014.157 from the account of two customers of the bank without authority.

The 41-year-old banker was also accused of sharing the money with his partner in crime, Nduka Stephen,36. The crime was perpetrated in September 2015.

He was arrested by the police after being reported by the bank's management, PM News says.

Both men were arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos on Monday on a four-count charge of felony to wit fraud, forgery and stealing. They pleaded not guilty and were granted each a N3m bail with two sureties each in like sum.

The case was adjourned till 11 July, 2016 for mention.

Both men were taken to the Ikoyi Prisons, pending the fulfillment of their bail conditions.
