The Police Commissioner of Edo state, Mr. Finihan Adeoye, has been sacked as the state prepares to elect a new governor.

According to reports, he was sacked 3 days ago. He was deployed to Edo less than a month before his sacking.

Pulse claims "Adeoye was sent packing after details emerged of a grand plan he hatched at Chief Gabriel Igbinedion's home, ahead of the September 28 governorship election in the State."

Pulse quoted an unnamed top APC official, who said "Adeoye held this meeting in Igbinedion's home where the plan to rig the governorship election was exposed and reported to the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris."

The PDP however denied reports that it had anything to do about it.

“Mr. Adeoye, who replaced Mr. Chris Ezike about three weeks ago and was saddled with the responsibility of coordinating the security arrangement for the governorship election which holds on September 28, is said to have been removed over his disagreement with the State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole on the use of police personnel, before and on the day of election," Chris Nehikhare, the party's spokesman said.

Reacting to the PDP's claims, the state government also denied it had anything to do Adeoye's sacking.
