As the Edo governorship elections approaches, thousands of members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), United Progressives Party (UPP) and the African Democratic Congress, ADC, have abandoned their parties to support the All Progressive Congress, APC.
Egor LGA PDP Youth Chairman Mr Lambart Omoregie, said his defection was long overdue. “I have been in darkness and I have seen the light. And it is my strong believe that Obaseki is a better candidate to Ize-Iyamu so we all are supporting him," he said.
APC governorship candidate, Godwin Obaseki, said the defection was an earthquake in the politics of Edo state.
“I now believe that Edo people know what democracy in Nigeria is all about. I have not seen where people will leave their parties with their candidate to another party but I have seen it today," he said.
