Metro EFCC Partners Australia Police in Fighting Internet Fraud

The Western Australia Police has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)
to work together to combat internet fraud and money laundering.

Wilson Uwujaren, the spokesman for the EFCC said that the MoU had been signed and sponsored by the Commonwealth Secretariat, and that the just cemented collaboration between the EFCC and the Major Fraud Squad, MFS of the WA Police is a commitment and next phase of the eradication of economic and financial crimes in Nigeria.

In a statement after the MoU was signed by both parties, Uwujaren said, “Through cooperation of this kind, crime fighting agencies can overcome the hurdle of their investigations stopping at international borders. By working with the Western Australia Police and other police forces throughout the world, the EFCC hopes to increase its capacity to track down and prosecute the perpetrators of these crimes and reduce the financial impact on their victims.”

Detective Senior Sergeant Dom Blackshaw, the representative Officer -in -Charge of the Major Fraud Squad, MFS, ensured the press and public that the afore signed agreement between these two crime fighting institutions will usher in a new era where the fight against online fraud and international cyber crime would be favourably on the side of the defenders of justice.
