Three journalists (which include a cameraman for a broadcaster for Sky News and a newspaper reporter for a newspaper based in Dubai) have been killed and others injured in the violence that broke out Wednesday in Egypt.

This report has been given by the employers of said journalists. According to Sky News, Mick Deane (61) got shot and wounded as he was covering the dissipation of the protest camps in the capital city of Egypt: Cairo. He died while receiving treatment. Other members of the Sky crew were reported unhurt, however.

Meanwhile, Gulf News, a UAE (United Arab Emirates) newspaper has reported on its website that one of its journalists, Habiba Ahmed Abd Elazir (26) was shot near the Rabaah al-Adawiya mosque in Cairo. This happened as security agents moved in on the supporters of the recently ousted president Mohammed Morsi.

The newspaper reports that Habiba had been on her annual leave and was not on assignment for the XPRESS, a sister publication for which she worked.

Ahmed Abdel Gawad, an Egyptian journalist writing for a state-run newspaper, Al Akhbar, was also killed while covering the events in the crackdown at Rabaah al-Adawiya. The reports confirming his death came from the Egyptian Press Syndicate, although there is no information as to how he was killed.

According to Sky News, Deane worked for the broadcaster for 15 years in the Middle East and USA. He was married and has two sons.
