The Ramadan fast is expected to end on Monday or Tuesday, depending on the sighting of the moon for the beginning of the new month of Shawwal.

If the moon is sighted today (Monday), Eid-el-Fitri celebrations will hold on Tuesday. If it's sighted on Tuesday, the celebrations will hold on Wednesday.

Here are ten tips Nigerian muslims must note, according to Murtada Gusau of Premium Times:

1. Stop fasting upon announcement of the sighting of the moon of Shawwal.

2. Pay/give Zakat-ul-Fitr before going for Eid.

3. The Eid is a day of joy, make every one around you happy.

4. It is forbidden to fast on the day of Eid.

5. The Eid prayer is an emphasised Sunnah, and according to some scholars, it is wajib, so don't fail to observe it

6. Wear your best cloth (if possible or in da hali) for the Eid.

7. It is Sunnah to eat before proceeding for Eid prayer (in the Eid-ul-Fitr).

8. Don't just gist or engage in idle talks as you go to the Eid, keep glorifying and praising Allah.

9. There is no additional /voluntary prayer before or after the Eid prayer, at the prayer ground.

10. Remember all the lessons learnt, and the virtues imbibed during the month-long fasting. As you return home from eid ground, make a firm commitment not to revert to your old ways.
