Mr. Oyetunde Ojo, Chairman, House of Representative Committee on Communications, assured the people of Ekiti State that the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, will complete the construction of the emergency centre in the state before the end of this year.

With a similar programme being constructed in Awka, Anambra State and Minna, in Niger State, the emergency centres will assist people who are in distress to call for help in cases of robbery, fire and other emergencies.

Ojo reiterated that the NCC will continuously impose sanctions on telecommunication companies that are found to fall short of the policies in Nigeria.

The All Progressives Congress lawmaker stated that incessant damage to service stations of telecom companies is a great risk that must be tackled if Nigerians are to witness an improvement in the poor network services.

The lawmaker representing Ekiti Central Federal Constituency 2 at the National Assembly, has urged Nigerians to consider telecommunication infrastructures as a property of the Nation like those of Power Holding Company of Nigeria, for improved service in the sector.

He noted that the effectiveness of the NCC in performing its regulatory duties, had forced the companies to reduce their tariffs to as low as four naira.
