Cristiano Ronaldo on Saturday drowned Barcelona with a perfect strike to end the La Liga league toppers' 39 games unbeaten run.

Gerard Pique had opened the scoring in a fiery Clasico with a superb header, only for Karim Benzema to equalise just after the hour mark with an instinctive volleyed finish.

Gareth Bale then had his goal disqualified before Ramos was sent off after he got a second yellow from a rash challenge on Suarez. Madrid's confidence thereafter grew and it was only a matter of time before they scored. Gareth Bale found space in the right corner and sent the ball across to the farther side of the post where Ronald was waiting. The superstar put the ball down on his chest before finishing brilliantly.

The result sees Real move within seven points of La Liga leaders Barca, and the result will also provide a major boost to Atletico Madrid, who lie second.
