Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the governor of Kaduna State, on Thursday described those who are agitating for the filling of party positions, following the appointment of some All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains into government positions as ignorant of party’s constitution.

The governor noted that most of the agitators are PDP elements who had decamped to APC in order to contest for elections.

Recalled that some APC chieftains from the state chapter, had petitioned the National Secretariat, asking it to compel the party to fill the positions that became vacant following the elevation of some party members to appointive and elective positions.

Although, they cited Arch Barnabas Bala Bantext, who doubles as the party chairman and deputy governor of Kaduna state as well as Alhaji Bashir Saidu who is both secretary of the party and commissioner of Local Government, including 11 other party officers at both state and federal levels.

Explaining further during the radio programme, El Rufai noted that the so-called vacant positions have been filled by the deputies in acting capacities.

According to him, the only way that a substantive party officers can emerge to fill the said vacant positions is by a special congress, which only the national secretariat can organise, in accordance with the party constitution.

The governor revealed that APC national headquarters had referred the petitioners to the state chapter when they went to Abuja with their protest letter.

El Rufai pointed out that he has been making overtures to the aggrieved APC members to help build APC in Kaduna state but none of them has contributed a dime to the party.
