The National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), on Monday through its General Secretar, Mr. Joe Ajero urged the Federal Government to show its commitment to the ongoing power reforms by settling outstanding salaries of former PHCN workers.

He said government’s commitment and sincerity in the power reforms should include the payment of all the entitlements of former PHCN workers.

He said that most workers have not received their severance packages, pension and balance of payment between June 2012 and November 2013.

“About 7000 workers have not received their entitlement and this involves over 90 per cent from the South-East.

“The issue of 10 per cent PHCN shares that was promised to the workers is also yet to be addressed by the government,’’ he said.

“What we did for this one month was to exercise restraint and see whether the government will be true to its word and show good faith.

“It seems that the government is not ready to show good faith,’’ he said.

Ajero urged the new owners of the power sector to improve on what they met on ground, stressing that ``the expectation of Nigerians is high.”

He also charged them to embark on due diligence in the sector, saying it was the only thing that would assist the investors in unravelling the shortcomings of the former management and how to improve power supply nationwide.
