The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, on Friday turbaned the new Galadiman Kano, Alhaji Abbas Sanusi, urging him to work towards the development of the emirate.
Sanusi, until his appointment, was the Wambai.
The emir said the decision to promote him was due to his immense contributions to Islamic religion and the development of the council.
Sanusi further enjoined him to continue to give his support towards the development of the emirate, Islam and the people of the state.
He also urged him to give useful advice in order to move the emirate forward.
Responding, the new Galadima, thanked the paramount traditional ruler for giving him the opportunity to serve the people.
He also pledged to discharge his responsibilities with utmost fear of God and without fear or favour.
The new Galadima, who is also an uncle to the emir, was born in 1933 and was turbaned as the Sarkin Dawakin Tsakar Gida in 1959.
He was elevated to the position of Dan Iyan Kano by former Emir Inuwa and was later promoted to Wamban Kano by the late Emir Ado Bayero.
